What are good destinations to vacation alone?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under spa vacation | 1 Comment »

I really want to go on vacation this summer, but I have no one to go with but myself. What are some good vacation ideas for young women traveling alone? I was thinking maybe a spa vacation or something. Let me know.

Hawaii !!!! You can hang out on the beach by yourself & people watch while soaking up rays. Go shopping & browse all you want without someone telling you "let’s go", dining might be somewhat lonely, maybe eat in the bar areas of restaurant, so you won’t be the only one dining alone & you can meet people. Go Hawaii !!! Aloha!!!!

What is the best spa & resort in Southern California?

Thanks for answering!

I want to treat myself to a 1 or 2 night stay at a spa and resort – drink mai tais by the pool or mud bath, sleep until noon in fluffy beds, have a few spa treatments – you get the idea.

I live in San Diego, but spend most of the week in LA. Any suggestions? I can’t afford big bills right now, so I am looking for something under $250 per night.

I have stayed in Palm Springs before, but like something a little closer to San Diego or LA.

Thanks!

I know this one hands down!

There’s an amazing resort and spa right in San Diego, called Paradise Point. The spa is Spa Terre. It’s on an island in the middle of Mission Bay, right across from SeaWorld.

My family has stayed there twice now, and it is Wonderful with a capital wuh! Not only do they have great, warm pools and gorgeous rooms (with fluffy beds, of course), but you also have access to their private beach.

Price may be a smidge more than you indicate, but it’s worth it in my opinion. We cannot wait for another trip!

Can someone recommend an affordable day spa in Stockholm?

I will visit Stockholm and would like to try a day spa- preferably cheap.

Hi there,
you will find many nice spa´s in and around Stockholm. It also depends on what treatments you were thinking but in general any spa in Stockholm is really good enough.

Where can I find the blue stuff the nail shops put in the spa for a pedicure?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under pedicure spa | 3 Comments »

I’m working on creating my own spa pedicure so if you know some good products to use for mani’s and pedi’s that’d be great!

Creative Nail Design (now known as simply CND), makes an excellent line of both manicure, and pedicure products. Since you mentioned spa pedicures, here is what CND has to offer in that area:
http://www.beautyofasite.com/spa-pedicure.html

Here is CND’s home page for more information. Click on ‘Products’ to see what they have to offer:
http://www.cnd.com/Consumer.aspx

For callus, or cuticle removal, the best products I have used are called Cuticle Eliminator, and Callus Eliminator. These are mafe by a company called ‘Be Natural." They also make a great lotion for your feet, but it can be used anywhere else on your body except for your face. Its called ‘Dry Heel Eliminator."

To finish up your mani/pedi with a great topcoat, nothing beats Seche Vite Fast Dry Topcoat. It has to be applied while the polish is still wet though, so remember that. Seche also makes some other great products as well, but their Topcoat is my favorite of them all:

BTW, the site that I used is only for reference. I’m not trying to advertise for them. In fact, I have never bought anything from this company. But, they had some pictures of the products I am referring to. Buy these products anywhere you choose. Its still the same thing, no matter where you buy it! The only thing that varies is the price.

Making a spa gift package for my boyfriend, what should I put in the basket?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under spa package | 12 Comments »

I’m making my boyfriend a "spa" gift package to help him relax. I’ve included fragrant massage oil, a aromatic candle, a CD of calming music, and some bath salts. What else should I include?

how about some lavender body wash,a soft sponge, scented candles, some lavender bubbles, spread some rose peddles around in the basket for decoration, some tasty wine for relaxing, and maybe a bath pillow to rest his head on

Can you write an amusing story about going to a health spa for rejuvenation that includes these lines? ?

1) Wheatgrass??? No I can’t say I’ve heard of it!
2) Oh my!! what do I do with that??
3) Yoga at 7 am?
4) Of course….I love broccoli sprouts!
5) I could KILL for a shot of expresso!
6) My mother always said…you have to suffer to be beautiful…she was right!

I stared out my window at my sterile surroundings as the limo pulled up to the entrance. This was where I’d be spending the next six weeks?! With what they charged they could have at least made it more attractive and not so institutional. Being picked up at the airport by a limo had given me hope of a nice relaxing stay in comfort. Now I was afraid of what lay ahead of me.

The chauffeur opened the door for me. As I slid out to stand looking up at the two story hospital white structure, my mother’s words came back to haunt me. MY MOTHER ALWAYS SAID….YOU HAVE TO SUFFER TO BE BEAUTIFUL…..SHE WAS RIGHT! I had a feeling my suffering was about to start!!

I was shown to a small receiving room. A lady with her glasses perched on her nose and her graying hair twisted in a bun on the back of her head looked up at me from her desk. She motioned for me to have a seat. As I sat on the edge of my chair, she began speaking to me as if she were reading from a script.

"So?", she began. "You have come to us to purge your body and soul of all it’s impurities? We will not have any caffeine or alcoholic beverages served here. You will only have water and juices to drink We serve only health foods."

My mind was in a swirl. Already I COULD KILL FOR A SHOT OF EXPRESSO!

Miss Birdbeak (as I began to think of her) continued almost in a monotone as she handed me a sheet of paper. "This is a list of the foods we serve here. Wheatgrass is at the top of the list. We serve it baked in bread, crumbled and sprinkled on salads and in cereals.. Nearly everything you eat here will have it in it. You have heard of it, haven’t you?"

"WHEATGRASS???? NO, I CAN’T SAY I’VE HEARD OF IT!", I responded as I scanned down the list. "OF COURSE I LOVE BROCCOLI SPROUTS!"

"I believe you’re thinking of brussel sprouts but we serve those too. Your diet here will be mostly vegetarian, she continued. "We do allow milk, a little butter, and eggs in a limited quanity. No red meats," She handed me another sheet of paper. "This is our exercise program."

I looked down at the paper. "YOGA AT 7 AM? Isn’t that a little early?," I asked.

"Not at all," she said peering at me over her glasses. "Breakfast is at 6 am.."

My mind began to think up escape routes. This was expecting too much of one who just wanted to get away from the hub-bub and stress of daily living for a little while to revitalize and lose a few pounds. This should be illegal!

I looked down at the bundle she was pushing toward me, "OH MY!! WHAT DO I DO WITH THAT??", I asked in surprise.

"It’s your sleeping bag," she explained. "All new clients sleep on bunk beds in the dorm for the first week."

"Excuse me," I interupted. "May I use your phone?"

"Of course," she said pushing the phone across to me. "Did you forget something?"

"I certainly did," I returned. " I forgot to stay home!"

Where is the best place to get a full spa treatment in Langkawi?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under spa treatment | 1 Comment »

3-4 hours spa treatment.
Preferably near the Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort

Try the Ishan Malaysian Spa, it is located within the kampong ceruk genyit and spa is on top of a hill facing the pantai tengah lagoon. The view is also breathtaking. Owner is known as the Spa man of Langkawi. The spa offers various treatments and their therapist are qualified. There is a japanese restaurant named Unkaizen which is located on the hill as well.
I must say ,it was a wonderful combination of spa and dining for me.You may need to book for appointment. Look it up in the local directory and I think most local cab driver know where it is. Have a wonderful time!

Spa treatments-What would make you come in to see me?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under spa treatments | 3 Comments »

I have started working in a spa as an esthetician who provides facials, all types of waxes, makeup applications, stress relieving body treatments, and treatments for different skin issues. I am trying to build up a clientele, and I was wondering if anyone could think of any ways to spark new clients’ interests. What types of advertising or promotions or services would make you want to come in without having an appointment first?

I am a current manager of a spa, so my advice to you would be to buy some notecards and write down information about you clients. Say for example someone named Ashley Smithcomes to see you and she tells you she has two kids and is going on a trip to Florida. WRITE THIS DOWN. This way the next time she comes in you can say "How was your trip to Florida?" "How are your kids?" It is very personal and working with people in waxing and facials, etc is a very personal business. This shows your client that you care to remember them. Just dont let them know that you have a card reminding you of all the stuff they tell you. They will then tell their friends about you and before you know it, you will be receiving requests left and right!! Good Luck. Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

What do you usually get at a day spa?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under spa packages | 5 Comments »

Do you think it’s worth buying a day spa package, or do you just get individual services?

If you already know what spa you are going to you need to ask them to explain the benefits of getting a package vs. individual services. You will spend more money on a package, but you will get much more for your money. Spas usually will through in a lot of additional complimentary things in a package, like meals, drinks and some treatments that may not need a therapist. If it is a spa with suanas, Turkish steam and pools you will get to use those at no additional cost. Plus packages are designed to provide you with a full relaxation experience.
